4. Mohamad Saiful Nang, 31
CEO & Photographer, CandidSyndromeSaiful, an engineer turned photographer turned businessman is nothing short of a story to tell. During an economic downturn in 2004, he lost most of his money, including his home and car.
Starting from scratch, he started his photography career and despite being budding photographer, he channeled most of his income into Rumah Pengasih Warga Prihatin, a shelter home for children.
He not only helped built the home monetarily, he also made sure he investss his time into the lives of these children. Yet having travelled all around the world, he is affectionately known as “Ayah Saiful” to the children because of his down-to-earth nature.
Starting from nothing, he chose not to register his company under the bumiputera status and managed to build his company to become one of the most sought-after photography studios in the international arena.

Why Durian? “Smells like hell but tastes like heaven.”
The Durian is hard, rough and prickly on the outside but soft, gentle and pliable on the inside – not unlike many of its Malaysian fans. In order to get to the “fruit”, we need to work hard on the “shell”. The Malaysian dream is a wonderful “fruit” to be desired but the Malaysian mentality is a hard “shell” to crack. To attempt to open up mindsets may most times be a painful experience – a thorn in the flesh – and it is easier for many of us to throw in the towel.
But we must be patient and not lose heart. The fruit is well worth the effort. As they say, “If there is a will, there is a way” – and there IS a way – a right way – to open up a Durian!
Memang Saiful Nang patut dapat AYA Awards 2010 @ award durian ni. Sebab kejayaan dia sebagai wedding photographer macam durian as mentioned above la.
