Sebab dari yang sikit tu boleh jadi mudarat okeh.

Izzah hari tu tak nampak pun tanda sakit. Cuma ada batuk-batuk sikit pagi tu. Tapi malamnya me tengok dia dah lain macam. Tak nak habiskan susu. Dan masa nak menyusu pun macam nafas tersekat-sekat.

Obvious sangat nampak dada dia cuba bernafas dengan laju. Then, me dengar bunyi wheezing tu. Wheezing okay!

Terus hati berdetik…ini tanda tak baik. Wheezing tu satu tanda saluran udara dalam paru-paru (large bronchi) dah bengkak dan tersumbat.

It’s a very bad sign that my daughter was having some kind of lung infection!

And, that was true indeed. Doktor kata Izzah kena Acute Bronchitis atau early stage of asthma.

Acute bronchitis is an inflammation of the large bronchi (medium-sized airways) in the lungs that is usually caused by viruses or bacteria and may last several days or weeks. Characteristic symptoms include cough, sputum (phlegm) production, and shortness of breath and wheezing related to the obstruction

Nanti me cerita pasal kisah masuk wad tu dalam entry seterusnya. Kali ni me cuma nak cerita kenapa me sangat menyampah setiap kali kena masuk wad…er..kena duduk dalam wad. Tak kira lah samada me yang kena admit atau Izzah yang kena admit.

Tapi kalau Izzah kena admit maknanya me pun kena admit sama la..ha..ha

Sebab-sebab utama me paling tidak suka duduk dalam wad (walaupun ianya wad kelas 1, single room).

1. Sangat sejuk!

Tak tau la kenapa bilik wad tu sejuk beku yang amat sangat. Walaupun bilik tu ada butang control suhu aircond tu tapi macam tak berkesan. Dah letak 30′c pun sejuk dia macam kat kutub utara. Dah la me ni jenis tak tahan udara sejuk nih (itu sebab tak pegi belajar London..ha..ha..ha).

Dah la time masuk wad tu, hujan lebat giler kat Shah Alam.. ada satu hari tu hujan dari pukul 2 pagi non-stop sampai 8 pagi. Dah pakai sweater dan stokin, dan berselimut tutup kepala pun menggigil macam nak mat*..he..he. Tapi Izzah control steady je walaupun me rasa jari jemari dia sejuk macam … BACA SELANJUTNYA

Nasty phlegm caused discomfort to my baby. And, given me sleepless night (taking care of the little princess).

Izzah’s paed was on long leave when we went to SMC. So, we were referred to see another paed, Dr Hoe.

According to Dr Hoe, my baby vomitted to clear the phlegm in her chest.

Babies don’t have the lung capacity to actually cough out the phlegm so they either vomit or they swallow it. Most of the time, they vomit it.

But continuous vomitting could cause dehydration. It’s dangerous for babies.

Dr Hoe said most probably little Izzah had an early Bronchitis. So, Izzah was immediately put on nebuliser every 4 hours.

Nebuliser is an equipment using a face mask to inhale a liquid medicine that has been turned into a fine mist. The nebuliser helps loosen and dislodge the phlegm that is in the lungs and passageways.

Baby Izzah has no problem using the nebuliser. She even hold the nebuliser herself!

This amazed the nurses because most babies will cry when put on a nebuliser. Perhaps because it’s noisy and misty?
