Who watch Nanny 911 hands up? Ha..ha..ha..!
I do! I love watching every bits of this reality show. In Malaysia, you can watch Nanny 911 every Monday on NTV 7 at 8.30pm. ![]()
If you’re having a tough and rough time handling your kids (hyper-active toddlers especially), I strongly recommend you to watch Nanny 911. In each episode, you can learn how a skilled nanny from Nanny 911 turned a chaos family back into the right path.
There are great parenting lessons to be learned every week. And, also communicating and working as a team. Yup.. having a family means you’re working as a team. ![]()
Here’s a review of Nanny 911 aired on 29th March 2010 (McRoberts Family handled by Nanny Deborah).
Doug and Dianna have a seven-year-old boy called Nate, a seven-year-old boy called Sam, a seven-year-old boy called Josh, a three-year-old boy called Jake and a three-year-old boy called Joey. Nate, Sam and Josh are triplets. Jake and Joey are identical twins.
Doug and Diana were always screaming on top of their lungs in attempts to control the behavior of their sons
Those kids were so hyper active and WILD!!! They were screaming, quarreling, running, jumping and messing the house all day long. ![]()
Diana is a full time house wife. Imagine how challenging for mommy to get all of them to eat their meals, have their bath or even get them to sleep.
Parents Must Change First, Then Kids Will Follow
There are 4 valuable parenting lessons from McRoberts family.
- Parents need to STOP yelling . Talk the normal way to kids. No need to scream. If you scream, they will scream back. Because kids learn by example. You teach them to scream as a way to communicate. So they will do exactly just that. Screaming!
- Parents must control the junk food taken by kids. McRoberts family had an open pantry where the kids can get junk food anytime they like. The pantry must be locked.
- Parents must work as a team. It’s not fair pushing all parenting responsibilities to the mom (even though she is a full time housewife). Both mom and dad must work together to handle the kids. Communication is very important.
- Parents must be consistent in giving rules in the house. For example, if no jumping on the couch now. It should be no more jumping on the couch tomorrow and ever.
Introduce Family Rules to the Kids
- Brothers for Life! Each kid is related to each other so they must take good care of each other. No more screaming or yelling or kicking or quarreling with brothers.
- Kids learned about nutrition – which food is healthy, which is not and why.
- Kids were given their own chores in the house. For example, clean the dishes, sweep the floor, wipe the table and make their own bed.
- Kids are not allowed to watch television or play game boys unless they EARNED it by good behavior.
It’s amazing how a change in communication and new family rules have changed uncontrollable kids into those who respect the parents with good behavior! Thumb-up Nanny 911!

Me, me! I watched yesterday’s episode and found it very useful. Will make an effort to watch it every week!

hhmm interesting. must start watching it.
on the junk food part- i controlled my children’s food intake BUT the daddy loves to eat junk food. When the kids saw me, they will not eat the junk food. BUT when i’m not around, they will eat. Sigh..susah betul

yelling is not the answer..hihihi..my lil trick, bila miya tantrum or scream for something. i buat the same & ajuk her. dia tercengang & laugh it off. pastu stop. i imagine dia kata dlm hati “eee buruknye mama..aku buat buruk gitu gak eek? tak nak buat aa..malu”
p/s- trick ni jgn buat in public or depan org luar..malu daaaa…

wah, nampaknya dah ramai parents tgk Nanny 911 nie. saya pun pernah buat review: http://charming-umi.blogspot.com/2010/03/nanny-911.html
ep mlm ni mmg best kan? paling tersentuh bila si ayah mcm control nak nangis bila minta maaf kat anak dia. pastu anak dia dtg kat dia and peluk dia. wah, sgt touching!
mmg x miss tgk sejak dulu. byk info dan tips menarik utk apply kat anak. apa yg saya nmpk, parents kena buat rules utk anak sejak kecil. libatkan dia dgn kerja2 rumah walaupun kita tau anakx dpt buat dgn sempurna (seperti dlm episod lps di mana nanny suruh diorg kemas katil).
for me, baik dgn reality program camni drpd yg berbentuk hiburan
my hubby loves this program too!
